About Renee....
Renee Garcia is a costume designer (Local USA 829) with over forty theatre, dance, and film productions to her credit. Her work includes designs for the Repertory Theatre of Saint Louis, Metro Theatre Company, Lake Dillon Theatre Company, The Riverside Theater Shakespeare Festival, The Unicorn Theater, The Coterie Theater, Brick Monkey Theater Ensemble, portOPERA, and the independent film Burning Man.
Garcia’s costume designs for As You Like It were featured in the USITT-USA National Exhibit at the 2015 Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space, as well as in the 2022 Vestuario a Escena MX, AC international exhibit Scenic Costume Design at the National Center for the Arts in Mexico City. Her designs for The Prom were showcased at the Bucharest Scenography Biennale in 2024.
She has received several prestigious awards, including the USITT Fellows Early Career Member Mentoring Assistance Award, the USITT Ezekiel Board Choice Winner, and the USITT Ezekiel Award for Outstanding Achievement.
Currently, Garcia is Assistant Professor of Theatre in the Sargent Conservatory of Theatre Arts at Webster University. She holds an M.F.A. in Theatre Design and Technology from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and a B.A. in Theatre from Florida State University.
