Renee Garcia is a costume designer and artist living in Oklahoma.
Renee's costume designs for As You Like It were selected for the USITT-USA National Exhibit in the 2015 Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space. The PQ is the world's largest performance design exhibit in the world, often compared to the Olympics or World's Fair for designers. The designers selected for the USITT National exhibit represent the best and most innovative theatre currently being produced in the United States and Renee is thrilled to have participated.
Recent costume design credits include Cabaret for Lake Dillon Theatre, Noises Off and As You Like It for Ohio University's Division of Theater, An Appalachian Christmas Carol for Brick Monkey Theater Ensemble, Of Farms and Fables with Open Waters Theater, The Two Gentlemen of Verona and Romeo & Juliet at the Riverside Theater Shakespeare Festival in Iowa City, Green Whales at the Unicorn Theater and In Spite of Thunder: The Macbeth Project at the Coterie Theater in Kansas City. Renee was the makeup designer for PORTopera's The Daughter of the Regiment and the production designer on the independent film Burning Man.
Renee received a M.F.A. in Theatre Technology from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. She earned her BA in Theatre from Florida State University. She was the Lecturer in Costume Design at the University of Southern Maine from 2010-2012 and the Visiting Assistant Professor in Costume Design at Ohio University from 2012-2015. She is currently the Assistant Professor of Costume Design at Oklahoma State University.
